willful ignorance

“the worst thing about bigotry is that it is founded on willful ignorance.”

Jeri posted 4/6/09 washingtonblade.com

The second worst thing about bigotry is that it passes down generation to generation; children learn it from observing and listening to their parents. They also learn it from listening in church. You know, that very special place you go once a week to hear how God wants us to “love one another” and tells us how special the children of the world are to him.

Why are children killing themselves and/or experiencing severe depression? How often is it because of bigotry, taunting, harassment and teasing that they are receiving at school? Why are they being teased? Because they are different, or possibly gay? Where are the adults that are being paid to protect the children while they are in school? Why would the adults be ignoring the cries for help?

Ignorance? Discomfort? Bigotry? Christian values?

How many more children have to die by their own hands? When is it NOT going to be okay to bully, humiliate, harass or perpetrate violence on another individual based on their sexuality, gender identification, weight, race etc… And when are going to start telling our children it isn't okay?

the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, known as ENDA
Please write your Congressional Representative and ask them to endorse these acts protecting people from hateful acts of discrimination, humiliation and violence.

An eleven year old should never be subject to such ridicule or hatred. If they came to school with bruises or other signs of abuse, would the school do something about it? You bet they would. So why don’t they do the same for abuse by other children happening in school?

Teaching children tolerance and love for each other, especially those that are different or less fortunate, would make the greatest difference in their tomorrows. These values are best taught by loving parents and family. At the same time schools should be helping to enforce these values, not ignoring pleas for help.

Imagine a world in harmony.

Nismo 370z is Like Sex on Wheels

I don't even want to besmirch the Nismo 370z with my words. I just want to say having been a 350z driver, that this picture make me miss the Z experience with all my heart.

350 hp 276 lb-ft. of torque, 3.7-liter V6
19 inch Rays forged alloy wheels
Nismo aerodynamic down-force body design
Competition-tuned suspension
Nismo signature red-stitched interior
SynchroRev Match manual transmission (so you, the amateur, can downshift like Takumi in Initial D without having to heel-toe like a pro)

Damn.

ps: Nissan, if you're reading this, I will send you free MAXPRO condoms in exchange for one of these 370z's... It doesn't even have to be the Nismo one!

Pell and Pope Say "Condoms? We don't need no stinkin' condoms"

Okay, so they probably didn't really say that although that would be kind of funny. This, however, is not a laughing matter folks. Cardinal George Pell, the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, is backing up the Pope in saying that condoms are detrimental to the fight against AIDS. Pell was quoted on an Australian TV show saying condoms "encourage promiscuity." You know what "encourages promiscuity"? Raging hormones, hit singles by Nelly Furtado, and human nature. It's gonna happen, dude. People are going to have sex no matter what and if you're telling people radical and unfounded claims about prevention methods, you're just being irresponsible.

Check this... What's easier? Asking someone to use a condom or trying to get someone to delve into spirituality and find it in themselves to restrain themselves from acting on their feelings and emotions.

I'm not saying people ought to go out and totally indulge on their innermost desires. I'm just saying it's not something someone can control by eliminating all but one method of prevention.

If you're someone who uses condoms, keep doing what you do. Feel proud of yourself for doing your part in world-wide prevention.
